Anna Kendrick grew up in Maine and caught the acting bug at age 10. She convinced her parents to drive her to New York for auditions, and at age 12, she won the role of Dinah Lord in the Broadway musical High Society. Kendrick received a Tony Award Nomination as Best Featured Actress in a Musical, becoming the third youngest performer ever to be nominated for a Tony. Kendrick won Drama League and Theatre World awards as well as Drama Desk and FANY award nominations for her work in the production.
She followed that up with roles in several other theater productions, including A Little Night Music for the New York City Opera and Broadway workshops of Jane Eyre and The Little Princess. Kendrick made her feature film debut in the musical Camp, a darling of the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. Her performance in the cult hit earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination as well as a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Annual Chlotrudis Awards.
She next starred in Rocket Science as an ultra-competitive high school debate team member. The film received a nomination for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and Anna was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in the film.
In 2008, Kendrick was seen in the Blockbuster feature film Twilight and the following year, reprised her role as high school student Jessica in the sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon. She also appears in the third and fourth installments, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (2011).
In between filming Twilight movies, Kendrick found the time to star in Up in the Air (2009) opposite George Clooney and Jason Bateman. For her work in the film, she received both Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.
Kendrick also appeared in the film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) opposite Michael Cera. In this dramedy, she played Stacy Pilgrim, the sister of Cera’s character Scott Pilgrim. She can more recently be seen playing a mom-to-be in the romantic comedy What to Expect When You’re Expecting (2012) or heard in the animated flick ParaNorman (2012) in which she voices the character Courtney.
